Get Cleaner Air And Efficient Heating And Cooling Systems With Regular Air Filter Changes

Air filters play an important role in your home’s air quality. Properly maintained, are proven to help you save money. Regularly changing your air filter extends the life of your cooling system, reduces energy use, and provides cleaner air to circulate through your home.

Air can’t properly flow through a dirty air filter, so your system has to work harder to push air through, reducing efficiency and using more energy. Because your system has to work harder when dirt and dust are built up in your filter, the life span of your system can ultimately be affected, which can pile on additional costs in repairs and replacement.

Clogged air filters reduce air circulation and impact how well your system cools your home. If your house doesn’t cool or heat properly, check your filter.

Keeping a clean air filter reduces the amount of pollen, dust, dander and other allergens that circulate through your home. When the normal flow of air through your filter is blocked, some air may bypass the filter allowing unfiltered, dirty, air into your home. Pieces of dust and other dirt can also be pushed through a clogged air filter, again allowing these allergens access to your indoor air.

While the frequency of filter changes is generally once per month, some filters have a longer life; check the filter package for details. If you have pets, you may need to change your filter more often.

Simple routine replacement of air filters is much cheaper in the long run when compared against increased energy use and maintenance costs. Associating filter changes with something else that recurs monthly may help you remember to change the filter. For monthly filter replacement a good reminder is to change your filter when you pay your power bill!
