4 Criteria Air Purification Systems Should Meet

If you’re looking to improve indoor air quality, a new air purification system can serve to alleviate asthma and allergies in sensitive individuals – as long as it meets certain criteria. Look for the following four features as you shop for an air purification system to install in your Yuma area home:

  1. Permanent particle removal: Some air purifiers ionize particles in the air, which makes them heavy enough that they fall onto the floor and other surfaces in your home. The argument is that you can vacuum and wipe these up to enjoy clean indoor air. However, permanent particle removal is a better option. This method involves mechanically filtering particles, trapping them inside a HEPA filter, and permanently removing them from the air.
  2. Long-term efficiency: If an air purification system works perfectly for the first few weeks, it doesn’t necessarily indicate that it has long-term efficiency. Many air cleaners lose as much as 50 percent of their initial efficiency after just a few weeks. That’s why it’s important to pinpoint an air purification system that remains efficient over the long term.
  3. Ultra-fine particle filtration: A vast majority of airborne particles measure less than .1 microns in diameter, yet many air purifiers are only designed to trap particles down to .1 microns in size. Since ultra-fine particles are the most abundant and cause the most harm when inhaled, you should seek an air purification system that efficiently traps particles well below .1 microns.
  4. Gas and chemical filtration: A top reason you might be seeking an air purification system is to freshen the air and remove odors. This function is only possible if you select one that removes gases and chemicals from the air.

These top criteria should help you identify the air purification system you want to install in your home.
