Federal Tax Credits And Lennox Rebates Make This The Ideal Time To Improve Your Home-Comfort System

If your utility bills are high and you are afraid they will be going even higher as fuel costs rise, this may be the perfect year to upgrade your home comfort systems to make them as energy efficient as possible. With a combination of federal tax credits and rebates from equipment manufacturers like Lennox, a big slice of the up-front costs of making your home more energy efficient will be paid for you.

With our dry sunny climate here in Yuma, you can find many ways to reduce your energy consumption while still maintaining your family’s comfort inside your house. The first thing you need to look at is your insulation. If it is not adequate for our climate investing in insulation upgrades will give you a greater return than most financial investments you could make. Adding reflective roofing is another step you could take to minimize your summer cooling costs.

If you have an old furnace or air conditioning system, it is likely that installing a new air-source heat pump, or a new unit with gas heat would cut a significant percentage off of your heating and cooling costs. Your ongoing savings on utility bills coupled with the rebates and tax credits you could get up front will give you a quick pay-back on your investment.

Here are some of the credits and rebates available now:

  • Federal tax credits up to $500 for the cost of insulation and Energy Star roofing materials. These credits expire at the end of 2011.
  • Until the end of 2016, you can get federal tax credits for 30% of the cost of qualifying energy efficient heating and air conditioning equipment, solar panels and small wind turbines.
  • Until August 26, 2011, Lennox is offering $1100 in rebates for qualifying home comfort system packages and $300 on the purchase of four solar modules.

Be sure to note the upcoming deadlines on some of these rebates and tax credits. Call us at Hansberger Refrigeration and Electric Company with any questions you may have about the best ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency and reduce your utility bills. Count on us.
