With the temperature variations that are common in Southwest Arizona, it’s imperative that you find an HVAC professional who will take good care of your cooling and heating equipment. To help your search, we’ve compiled our favorite tips to find an HVAC professional:
- Check local requirements – HVAC technicians must follow certain license and insurance requirements, depending on the area. Ask the company to provide you with the proper documentation.
- Get a referral – Ask people you know if they can recommend a specific contractor. This could make your search a lot easier.
- Call their references – Obtain a list of references from a prospective contractor and call each person on the list, concentrating on the company’s work ethic and service skills.
- Inquire about special offers – Many HVAC professionals will provide discounts for new customers or may have lower-priced offers on certain types of service jobs. Check their website or call them directly.
- Obtain multiple bids – Until you find an HVAC professional that you trust, it’s a good idea to take multiple bids on any given project. These bids will be conducted in written form and should cover things like price, energy efficiency, time completion, etc.
- Use of Energy Star products – A reputable contractor is aware of the benefits of installing heating and cooling equipment that has been certified by the federal Energy Star program. If they’re not recommending these products, they may not be as professional as they seem.
- Ask about a home evaluation – A contractor should insist on visiting your home for an evaluation before providing an estimate on a major installation or repair.
- Spread the wealth – When you find an HVAC professional whom you can rely on, spread the wealth by telling your family and friends.
