Here are Some New Features You Should Look for in an HVAC System

Here are Some New Features You Should Look for in an HVAC SystemHVAC systems have been keeping our homes comfortable for decades. However, running an air conditioner or furnace has always come at the cost of higher utility bills.

In the past several years, the industry has been working to address that problem with more efficient HVAC systems. There are many new digital features and other improvements that are both wallet-friendly and environmentally friendly as well. If you’ll be shopping for a new HVAC system in the future, here are some features to be on the lookout for:

Programmable Thermostats

One of the best digital features available today is the programmable thermostat. Most people don’t need the same level of cooling or heating 24 hours a day. If your house is empty for several hours during the day while everyone is at work or school, you can adjust your thermostat to use less energy without affecting anyone’s comfort. At night, cooler outdoor temperatures let you raise the set temperature in the summer, and blankets let you lower the set temperature in the winter.

The problem is, of course, remembering to make those adjustments. A programmable thermostat allows you to program in the changes you want so you won’t forget. The thermostat handles all the changes and you just get to see an improvement on your utility bill.

Filter Lights

Always forgetting to change your air filter? Some systems come with a filter light that will remind you to change the filter, reducing wear on your HVAC system so it lasts longer.
