What HVAC Considerations Should You Think About Before Hosting a Fall Party?

What HVAC Considerations Should You Think About Before Hosting a Fall Party?Hosting a party during the fall in the desert southwest does take some extra HVAC considerations. Although the weather is normally comfortable, it could be cold or hot. It’s important to tackle the issue early to prevent temperatures from becoming uncomfortably hot or cold.

Check the condition of the air filter.

If it’s showing a coating of dust, you may want to change it. Clean filters increase the air flowing through the air handler, which means the system will cool or heat your home faster.

A fresh filter will also trap more dust and other airborne particulates, which helps clear the air. When you’re buying its replacement, look for the MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) or quality rating.

If you know you’re having people with allergies over, replacing it with a filter that has a higher MERV or quality rating will lower the particulate and pollen counts indoors.

Refresh your knowledge about your programmable thermostat.

You may need to override it during the party and as a host, you probably won’t want to spend time adjusting its temperature settings.

Check an online weather site for the hour-by-hour forecast for the date of the party as it gets closer.

Make an appointment for HVAC maintenance.

The technician will go through the entire system, clean and adjust it and check the refrigerant level. You can also talk to him about your HVAC considerations for the party, and get answers about issues that could impact your comfort.

You may want to learn about cooling your home down quickly if temperatures rise fast, something that’s not uncommon if you have a big crowd and are generating a lot of heat in the kitchen and dining room. Conversely, if it’s going to be cold, the technician can show you how to preserve as much heat indoors when the doors are opening frequently.

You have no control over the weather, but you do over the HVAC considerations that will help you make the party a success. For more information, contact Hansberger Refrigeration and Electric Company, providing trusted HVAC services for Yuma-area homeowners.
